Decoration Day ~ Set in the state of Georgia, James Garner renders a powerful and very sensitive performance of a Judge who following the death of his wife, retires from the bench. He tries to with-draw from life ensconced in his own grief and bitterness. The mystery surrounding an old friend's refusal to accept the Congressional Medal of Honor, and the personal crises in the lives of those closest to him, compel him to step back into the mainstream of society . As he reaches beyond his own pain and into lives of others, he not only becomes an anchor for them, but finds a renewed reason for living, himself. This is an exceptional film, providing wholesome entertainment. May be difficult to find. Check Amazon.com

Through My Mother's Eyes is a conversation about the recollected experiences of a young girl trapped in the middle of a war between the Japanese and the rest of the world. The author, Michael McCoy, and his mother, Jean-Marie Heskett, share in vignette-form taking the reader quickly from tragedy to humor to atrocity to compassion. This civilian-child's look at WWII in the Philippines proves the great resilience of children to overcome, adapt, and survive. For those who enjoy true WWII accounts, this is a must-have for your collection. Through My Mother's Eyes
